In light of recent events surrounding Dec '19 - Jan '20 bushfires. - Fake Sibling have decided to release this track with all profits going to Wildlife Victoria. The animals killed and displaced by these horrific events are truly the innocent.
With over a billion deaths, the predicted extinction of entire species, and millions left scarred and without home. Their survival and rehabilitation rely on the efforts of volunteers and your donations.
‘Burning’ communicates a message of disappointment and helplessness from feeling that their ‘so-called leaders’ are leaving us burning in our current climate. Grabbing you early with a driving groove that underlies Sophie’s distinct and haunting vocal style, ‘Burning’ ebbs and flows to a collection of vocal layers that are tightly produced.
‘Burning’ was originally a song about toxic and tumultuous relationships. However, FAKE SIBLING were, at the time of recording, locked in an environment that was literally burning. Every recording session began with weighted and depressing discussions about how their beloved country was on fire and that their government showed a lack of genuine concern for the people and wildlife suffering in these conditions. The lyrics were rewritten to reflect their current state of mind, and ‘Burning’ took on an energy and gravity that they could relate to and stand behind proudly.
